Differentiated Instruction: What is it?

There are many terms thrown around in education. Collaborative learning, DOL, PLC’s….differentiated instruction. Differentiated instruction effects us every day whether we realize it or not. You are probably doing it on some levels whether you are aware or not. So what is it? Differentiated instruction is the process of individualizing instruction to meet each student at their level of ability. Practically this could mean having various types of assessment opportunities for students, individualized homework plans, and working with students grouped based on individual ability in every subject.
